Why can crocodiles and hippos coexist peacefully?
Although the crocodile is fierce, it mainly feeds by dragging its prey into the water and drowning it. Hippos themselves live in water. Adult hippopotamus weighs 2 tons and its skin is 5 cm thick. There is a thick layer of fat under the skin. The crocodile's big mouth can't cause fatal injury to the hippo, and the crocodile won't and dare not attack the hippo at all. The threat to crocodiles is the huge teeth of hippos. Fortunately, hippos are not carnivores.
