Urumqi, commonly known as Urumqi, formerly known as Dihua, is the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region approved by the State Council, an important central city in northwest China and an international business center facing Central Asia and West Asia.
Urumqi is located in the northwest of China, in the middle of Xinjiang, in the center of Eurasia, at the northern foot of the Middle Tianshan Mountains, at the southern edge of Junggar Basin, and adjacent to Central Asian countries. It is the political, economic, cultural, scientific, educational and transportation center of Xinjiang, the largest city farthest from the ocean in the world, and has the title of "Asia Capital".
In the early years of the Western Han Dynasty, in order to maintain the security of the northern part of the Silk Road, the Han Dynasty set up a captain of Wuji in Jin Man (Jimsar) near Urumqi. During the Tang Dynasty, Tingzhou was located at the northern foot of Tianshan Mountain. In the 20th year of Qingganlong (1755), due to the large-scale development of the Qing troops stationed in Xinjiang, Qingganlong in the 28th year (1763) expanded the city and changed its name to Dihua. Dihua became the capital of Xinjiang province from 65438 to 0884, and has since become the political center of Xinjiang. 1954 Dihua changed its name to Urumqi, which means "beautiful pasture" in Mongolian.
