Rheumatic heart disease, referred to as rheumatic heart disease, refers to heart disease involving heart valves caused by rheumatic fever. It is characterized by stenosis and/or dysfunction of one or more valves in mitral valve, tricuspid valve and aortic valve. There are often no obvious symptoms in the initial stage of illness, but in the later stage, it is characterized by palpitation, shortness of breath, fatigue, cough, limb edema, coughing pink foam sputum, and death due to heart failure. Others died of arterial embolism and cerebral infarction. This disease mostly occurs in winter and spring, in cold, humid and crowded environment. The age of first onset is 5- 15 years old, and the recurrence usually occurs within 3-5 years after the first onset.

If you have rheumatic heart disease recently, it should be the active period of rheumatic fever. Benzathine penicillin for injection is recommended.

Rheumatic heart disease can be cured. Relax. After being cured, the life expectancy is the same as that of normal people.

Many patients need to replace their heart valves in the future.
