Let's first understand the symptoms of dentin allergy.

In the hot summer, I can't wait to take a big bite of cold ice cream, but if I feel toothache while enjoying this delicious taste, all my expectations will come to nothing. The appearance of this ache may indicate that your teeth are "dentin sensitive".

"Dentin allergy" means that one or more teeth will have a sore reaction due to changes in hot and cold temperatures, touching, blowing, osmotic pressure, etc. Clinically, no other dentin defects or pathological reasons were found except dentin exposure of the affected teeth. According to scholars' research, the incidence of adult dentin hypersensitivity is about 32%, which most often occurs in women aged 30~40, mainly located on the buccal side of canine teeth or premolars. The cause of dentin hypersensitivity is dentin exposure, and the dentin structure is composed of many dentin tubules. If the dentinal tubule is exposed to the air for some special reasons, when exposed to * * * (especially eating cold or icy food), the liquid in the dentinal tubule will flow, thus involving the peripheral nerve of the pulp, and the teeth will feel sore.

Because "dentin hypersensitivity" is caused by dentinal tubule exposure, it is necessary to understand the causes of dentinal tubule exposure in order to obtain effective treatment. Clinically, it is necessary to ask a dentist to confirm whether you have dentin hypersensitivity, because some teeth with excessive function, such as dental caries, cracked tooth syndrome or abnormal occlusion, and excessive occlusion of molars at night, may also cause toothache, but these symptoms must be filled with dental caries, root canal treatment, occlusal plate making, and even corrected and repaired. If these symptoms are treated as sensitive teeth, there will be no improvement effect!

Common causes of dentin hypersensitivity are as follows:

1. Improper oral cleaning habits: actually, cleaning teeth does not mean brushing your teeth hard. Bad habits such as excessive brushing force, using too hard toothbrush and incorrect lateral brushing methods will all cause enamel wear and dentin.

2. Abnormal eating habits: eating acidic foods (such as citrus fruits). ) and carbonated drinks. It often leads to enamel corrosion on the surface of teeth.

3. Bad oral hygiene habits: If dental plaque accumulates in the mouth, it is easy to produce acidic substances and erode the tooth surface.

The treatment of dentin hypersensitivity should be carried out in two aspects:

1. Home care for patients: We must ask patients to correct the bad habits that cause dentin hypersensitivity, such as developing the correct method of cleaning teeth after meals, using dental floss correctly, avoiding excessive brushing, and choosing to use a soft toothbrush. At the same time, you should adjust your eating habits to avoid eating high-acid foods habitually, or rinse your mouth with clear water after eating high-acid foods, and then brush your teeth after 1 hour to avoid easy wear of enamel.

2. Physician's consultation treatment: If it is the initial dentin hypersensitivity, some soluble salt desensitizers can be used to achieve desensitization effect. If some defects have been formed in the tooth structure, we should consider using composite resin or glass ionomer cement for complex and sensitive treatment of the defects. Even if there are too many roots, it is necessary to cover the roots with gingival connective tissue in conjunction with periodontal surgery to reduce root sensitivity.

Most importantly, because the treatment of sensitive teeth is slow and long-term, it takes great patience and a period of time to achieve a perfect treatment effect. Especially in the case that the initial treatment has not been significantly improved, there must be no sense of loss. As long as you closely cooperate with the doctor's treatment, implement basic personal care and improve bad habits step by step, I believe there will be a day to get rid of sensitivity.
