The power generated by China's GSM (2G) base station is about 10W, and the antenna of the 2G base station is built on the roof of the building, which is safe for residents. The signal propagation of mobile communication base station obviously declines with the distance, and the indoor signal declines seriously because of the occlusion of buildings in cities. According to the current coverage characteristics and capacity requirements of wireless networks, in densely populated urban areas, the average distance between base stations should reach about 200-300 meters. Only when the base stations are evenly distributed can good signal coverage quality be guaranteed. Residential areas are areas where users are concentrated, communication needs are strong, and buildings are seriously blocked. In order to ensure good communication service quality, the base station should be built in a location that conforms to the plan and is close to users. For a large-scale cell, if the base station is built outside the cell, it will be difficult for users to talk in some indoor areas 100 meters away from the base station. In order to provide good service for users, it is necessary to build the base station in the cell in network planning. According to related research, the mobile phone is in the strongest state when it is far away from the base station, and the closer it is to the base station, the lower the power. So the more base stations are built, the lower the power radiation.
According to China's laws, the construction of mobile communication base stations must meet the requirements of Regulations on Protection of Electromagnetic Radiation and Hygienic Standard for Environmental Electromagnetic Waves. It is stipulated that as long as the electric field intensity is less than 0/2 volt per meter/kloc-or the power density is less than 40 microwatts per square centimeter, it will meet the safety standards, even lower than the radiation level of mobile phones and computers, so it will not affect the health of nearby residents. In recent years, China's environmental protection department has repeatedly tested base stations in various places, and the results show that the radiation amount is far below the limit stipulated by the national electromagnetic radiation protection standard.
Professor Li Kaibao, chairman of the Radiation and Protection Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, said that the radiation of the communication base station is very small and will not affect human health, so ordinary people need not worry.
