Thailand is about to launch a one-year medical tourist visa.

Speaking of foreign visas, everyone should know that they are generally short-term tourist visas. Not yesterday, the State Council and Thailand introduced a new visa type, namely "one-year medical visa". The visa will promote Thailand to become a hub country for global medical and health services. See below for more details.

According to Thailand's World Journal, on October 30th, local time 165438+Le Chada, deputy spokesman of the State Council, Thailand, pointed out that the cabinet meeting of that day approved in principle that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was going to launch a new visa category "one-year medical visa" to provide convenience for foreigners who need medical care services in Thailand, and at the same time promote Thailand's development into a hub country of global medical and health services.

Le Chada pointed out that in order to facilitate foreigners to enjoy medical services in Thailand, the Cabinet meeting approved in principle a new visa program introduced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, called "Medicaltreatmentvisa", and those who are allowed to enter Thailand with such visas will be allowed to stay in Thailand for up to one year. The implementation of the visa program is in line with the policy orientation of the Thai government's efforts to build Thailand into a global medical and health service hub country, attracting more international tourists to Thailand to enjoy high-end medical services, and will also create a large amount of foreign exchange income for the country.

She said that in the past, foreigners who came to Thailand for medical treatment needed to apply for ordinary tourist visas, and they often faced difficulties in renewing them. In addition to the patients themselves, the new visa type will be provided to no more than three accompanying persons who can stay in Thailand for a long time. The handling fee for this kind of visa application is 6000 baht. If you apply for visa renewal, you will be charged an extra handling fee of 1900 baht each time.

Although the visa was approved in principle by the Cabinet of Thailand, it will not be officially released until the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand communicates with the Immigration Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior and the implementation rules of the two departments are approved by the Cabinet or the heads of relevant departments.
