What problems should be paid attention to in implementing mental health education curriculum in secondary vocational schools?

When implementing mental health education in secondary vocational schools, we should pay attention to avoiding the following tendencies.

First, the tendency of discipline. That is, mental health is regarded as a basic knowledge course, and psychological concepts and theories are systematically taught in the classroom. We believe that it is necessary for students to master some psychological knowledge, but we oppose the disciplinary tendency of understanding the course as popularizing psychological knowledge and even arranging students to take psychological knowledge tests. Because the fundamental goal of mental health curriculum in secondary vocational schools is to apply the relevant theories and knowledge of mental health, solve the problems and psychological behavior problems faced by secondary vocational students in their growth, and maximize their psychological potential.

Second, the tendency of medical treatment. Some people think that mental health education is psychological counseling and psychotherapy. School leaders and teachers have this view, which will lead students to think that they have mental illness and can only go to the psychological counseling room. Now people pay attention to health care and don't go to see a doctor when they are sick. So is mental health education. According to statistics, less than 1% of students have mental illness and psychological disorder. Generally speaking, the psychology of secondary vocational school students is healthy, and their psychological and behavioral problems in social adaptation such as study, growth, life and occupation are just some adaptability problems in the development process. School mental health education should focus on prevention and development.

Third, one-sided tendency. In terms of educational objects, we should face all students. What most people need is psychological counseling. If the object of education is one-sided, it will become psychological counseling and psychotherapy for some students. Some schools unilaterally choose the first-year students as the education objects, but in fact, the second and third grades, especially the students who are about to take up their jobs, encounter more problems and need psychological counseling.

Fourth, the tendency of formalization. Mental health education is very professional. Although some schools have nominally set up mental health classes, psychological consultation rooms and teachers, they still use general ideological and political work methods for psychological education. The other is to confuse mental health education with moral education.

Fifth, ignore the isolated tendency of teachers' mental health. At present, mental health education in schools is mainly aimed at students, while teachers' mental health is neglected. Only teachers with mental health can cultivate students with mental health. A teacher has a profound influence on students, and there are many examples in this regard. The survey shows that the proportion of teachers with psychological and behavioral problems in China is high, which is caused by many reasons. If teachers can't adjust their mentality well, it will have a bad influence on students' mental health.
