Background Introduction of Health Poverty Alleviation Project in China

The purpose of this paper is to promote the medical and health undertakings in grass-roots and rural poverty-stricken areas in China, narrow the health gap between urban and rural residents, improve the quality of life of vulnerable groups, highlight the social fairness and justice of "health for all", and gradually eliminate poverty caused by illness and return to poverty due to illness.

Since the launch of "China Health Poverty Alleviation Project", with "maintaining residents' health" as the center and "persisting in prevention, reducing diseases and improving residents' health level" as the goal, we have thoroughly analyzed and grasped various factors affecting the health of urban and rural residents, the disease burden of urban and rural residents and the main problems existing in the health of urban and rural residents under the new situation, and combined with Chinese Medical Association, peking university health science center and other medical and health research institutions, screened out a series of suitable technologies and intervention strategies with high cost performance and suitable for China's national conditions. By the end of 2008, public welfare projects such as "community disease prevention", "funding the training of primary health personnel" and "funding the service capacity building of primary health institutions" have covered 29 provinces, 100 cities and more than 800 counties (cities). Huize has a direct population of 80 million; The scale of public welfare reached more than 2 billion yuan, which was widely concerned by the society and praised by the masses.
