The head nurse is an important force in the hospital and undertakes the heavy task of knowledge dissemination and patient care. However, while making contributions to the society and patients, they are also under heavy load physically and mentally, and their work pressure is increasing. Psychological research shows that work stress brings a series of harms to cognition, emotion and behavior, and is an important factor affecting physical and mental health, work efficiency, interpersonal communication and quality of life. While speeding up the development of hospitals, we can't ignore the mental health problems of nurses.

In order to deeply understand the mental health status of head nurses and its influencing factors, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 282 nurses in our hospital at the end of 2005. Through analysis, it is considered that nurses have psychological problems and influencing factors: excessive work pressure and strong sense of load; Inner contradictions and conflicts are great; Lack of emotional adjustment ability; Interpersonal communication is more troublesome; Low self-satisfaction and self-evaluation; Emotion is more sensitive and fragile; Subjective well-being is low. There are serious psychological problems among them. Nurses are a job with great pressure and intensity, and they are typical sub-healthy people. The mental health of nurses should be paid attention to by the health department and the whole society. We should improve their mental health work to a level related to the quality of life of nurses, the quality of hospital care, mental health and personality improvement, and we need to take active and effective measures.

Management's coping strategies:

1. Advocate the concept of "employees first". The practice of social development in recent 10 years proves that enterprises that advocate the business philosophy of "employees first" are more vital than those that advocate "customers first". Therefore, no matter how big the hospital is. How high the reputation outside depends on the support of the kernel, which is a natural workplace, mainly depends on the subjective consciousness of employees, not rules and regulations. Because human behavior is the projection of subjective thoughts. Hospital management should recognize the actions, mental outlook and "self-evaluation" of medical staff in order to stimulate their ambition level and activate their achievement motivation. We should investigate the satisfaction of medical staff with various conditions in the hospital and give feedback. Care and understand the medical staff, admit the existence of psychological problems, don't confuse psychological problems with political and ideological problems, and don't simplify them.

2. Guide the strategic thinking logic of the middle-level blue ocean, create a brand-new operation process suitable for rapid development, learn to give up the methods or processes that were thought to be effective before, be brave in starting from the beginning to the end, plan scientifically, reduce variables, and truly "do something different" to fundamentally reduce the pressure on employees.

3. Select and train departmental "negotiation experts": help middle managers select and train people who are good at communication and thinking. They should have the patience of a watchmaker, a rich mind, be good at listening and know how to respect. They are familiar with and proficient in "Regulations on Handling Medical Accidents", which can not only supervise the medical order and process norms of departments, but also find out potential safety hazards and signs of disputes in time, and can be independent in the critical moment of disputes, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of medical personnel, help department members decompress and improve the reliability of departments.

4. Give full play to the role of head nurses. The head nurse should not only admit the existence of nurses' psychological problems, but also understand and discover their influencing factors. The head nurse is the supervisor, teacher, coach and friend of the nurse. She should learn or manage her emotions scientifically. Listen, observe, analyze and respond, especially be patient with complaints, analyze the reasons of complaints, understand the sources of signals sent by nurses' emotional fluctuations, and master the information context of clinical nurses. For short-term psychological disorders and mental illness, timely report can be corrected, adjusted and alleviated through psychotherapy, vacation and recuperation, and post change. Of course, the head nurse's own mental health is the most important.
