Can psoriasis affect life span?

There are four most common types of psoriasis, namely, common type, pustule type, joint type and erythroderma type. Especially, the life expectancy of patients with psoriasis vulgaris is almost the same as that of normal people. Pustular psoriasis and articular psoriasis can be accompanied by joint or liver and kidney damage, secondary infection and electrolyte disorder, but they are rarely life-threatening. It is worth noting that erythrodermic psoriasis is often caused by improper treatment or indiscriminate use of oral and external drugs, especially the abuse of hormones and anticancer drugs, which leads to an increasing trend year by year. There are also many reports of leukemia induced by anticancer drugs. Patients with erythrodermic psoriasis may have fever, edema, hepatomegaly, increased heart burden, water and electrolyte disorders and protein's metabolic disorders due to systemic telangiectasia, skin flushing and a large number of dander shedding. And the mortality rate may be as high as 10%. Patients with psoriasis must be reminded to attach great importance to it and take medicine under the guidance of a doctor.
