On May 25th, 20 19, the state will recruit 6,700 five-year undergraduate free medical students for township hospitals in the central and western regions in order to alleviate the shortage of primary medical and health personnel.
In 20 18, Gansu plans to recruit 800 national free medical students. Among them, Lanzhou University, Gansu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Gansu Medical College, Hexi College and Northwest University for Nationalities have trained 740 people, while universities outside the province have entrusted Jiamusi University and Qiqihar Medical College to train 60 people.

Candidates who apply for the free medical directional enrollment plan, in principle, only recruit rural students, must participate in the national unified college entrance examination, and implement separate volunteering, separate batches, separate lines, and batch admission in advance.
Professions include clinical medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, Mongolian medicine, Tibetan medicine and Dai medicine. Free medical students enjoy the "two exemptions and one subsidy" policy of free tuition, free accommodation and subsidized living expenses during their study in school.
