The development of history

During the Warring States Period, Chun Shen Jun of the State of Chu built a town here. Because the swamp was full of weeds, it was named Xiagu City. Qin destroyed Chu, changed to Wucheng County, and was named after Wu and Cheng, who were good at making wine here. In the first year of Baoding in the Three Kingdoms (AD 266), Wu and Danyang were divided into two counties, Wuxing County, which was the county of Huzhou and took the meaning of prosperity of Wu. At the end of Liang Dynasty in the Southern Dynasties, the county was changed to Zhenze, the ancient name of Taihu Lake. Chen Chu was restored as Wu Xingjun and was later abolished.
