I am grateful to my parents for educating me to be kind to others since I was a child. My grandfather is also a very helpful man and has won praises from many relatives, friends and neighbors. After grandpa left us for many years, I often have acquaintances telling his stories, which makes me feel so moved! So proud!
My parents are glorious people's teachers. Parents teach by example, let's live in a beautiful environment in a friendly neighborhood since childhood!
I remember more than 50 years ago, when we were young, in summer, because there was no electric fan and air conditioning, everyone moved the dining table to an empty yard to eat, enjoy the cool and chat! Our neighbor's children sometimes sit at our table before we eat, and my mother will also bring her a bowl of rice to eat with us, just like having an ignorant sister at home!
More than 20 years ago, after I got married, I lived in an old balcony door. Neighbors live together and are a family when the wall is torn down. I remember that once the community came to install cable TV for us, grandma Dong, a neighbor, saw that I was not at home, so she asked my doctor's son to climb over the balcony and enter our room from my window to help us watch the cable TV installed. When I came home from work, I saw that the cable TV had been installed. I really appreciate my neighbor. Grandma Dong really takes care of us like her own grandmother.
Now my home is more transparent. I left my keys at two neighbors' houses. Even if I don't go home for a few months, my neighbors will take care of my home, help me water the flowers and sweep the yard. Every time I go home and see lush bonsai trees and colorful flowers, I always feel a warm current of deep love. Thank the neighbors for their concern and care. The window of my kitchen has long been an important place for me to exchange gifts and vegetables with my neighbors. Everyone who has food can share it with each other!
In order to take care of my granddaughter in recent years, I have lived in my son's house in Shanghai. In my son's community, I met a group of lovely Shanghainese, and my neighbors here treated me like brothers and sisters. I heard that Shanghainese are smart and stingy, but all the Shanghainese I meet are so friendly!
Because they want to take their children to play in the community, their grandparents are talking and laughing together every morning and afternoon, as amiable as colleagues and relatives. We have the same goals and values: everything is to cultivate children! They gave my granddaughter children's clothes and dressed her up as a princess. They always fold clean clothes, shoes and hats neatly and give them to us in the most beautiful bags. My daughter-in-law said, "I'll buy it myself." I can't buy such good, beautiful and high-grade clothes! " Everything is a concern, I hope my little granddaughter will grow up healthily! Once, when they heard that my granddaughter had a bad appetite, they immediately sent us their own small wonton to give my granddaughter an appetizer! What moved me even more was that their baby could wear some new clothes, but they gave us brand-new clothes for fear that they would be too small for us. This generous and frank consideration for others has moved me one after another and given me a new understanding of Shanghainese! Thank God for letting me live in such a good time and let me have good neighbors and friends to help me all my life.
Because of the epidemic, my granddaughter stayed at home for two or three months. At that time, I was very scared. When I saw the granddaughter of a stranger going out to meet her neighbors, I would always frown and cry. I feel sorry for my neighbor! Gradually, with the constant praise of neighbors, the little granddaughter grows more and more lovely, which makes us happy every day!
I read an article today. After 20 years of research and accumulation, two American psychology professors found that "interpersonal relationship" ranks first among the determinants of life span. They say that interpersonal relationships may be more important than fruits and vegetables, regular exercise and regular physical examination.
I believe: family harmony, harmony with friends and harmonious neighborhood relations are one of the secrets of longevity! We should be kind, say good words and do good deeds every day! Then, we must be blessed people, we will live in beautiful land and enjoy a beautiful life!
