How to promote the intestinal health of weaned piglets

Stress diarrhea of weaned piglets is mainly caused by weaning, environmental change, feed management and sudden change of feed. Due to stress reaction, the body's resistance decreases, the digestive function of newly weaned piglets is not perfect, the digestive enzyme activity decreases, the gastric acid secretion is low, and the digestive function of piglets is disordered, which leads to the proliferation of pathogenic Escherichia coli, the production of toxins, the stimulation of intestinal cells, the excessive secretion of intestinal cells, and the enhancement of intestinal peristalsis, thus leading to diarrhea. If the treatment is not timely, it will often lead to edema and cause huge losses. Because the resistance of Escherichia coli to antibiotics is becoming more and more serious, the treatment is more difficult. Therefore, prevention should be given priority to avoid stress diarrhea in weaned piglets.

1 weaning method

5 days before the scheduled weaning date of suckling pigs, the sows are driven out of the original circle, and then return regularly to let the piglets breastfeed. The number of breastfeeding times decreased day by day, and the feeding amount increased day by day until the scheduled date to stop breastfeeding. This method can alleviate the stimulation of sudden weaning.

2 feed for weaned piglets:

2. 1 Piglets reared in the original pen after weaning are still reared in the original pen for about 10 days, and then they are herded to reduce stress. Weaned piglets should be grouped according to their original nests. If they must be mixed, let them eat or exercise together about 4 days before mixing, so that the piglets can get familiar with each other, reduce the tension caused by mixing and avoid biting each other.

2.2 The original feed piglets continue to eat suckling pig feed after weaning, generally about 7 days, and gradually transition to piglet feed, and all weaned piglets are fed after 2 weeks. During these two weeks, the piglets should be fed according to the feeding methods and times during lactation, and at night to avoid stopping eating for too long and making the piglets hungry. And should be fed less, and the total amount should be properly controlled to prevent diarrhea caused by overeating due to weaning and hunger. In the future, the feeding frequency can be reduced appropriately.

2.3 Add bile acid to the feed. Bile acid can emulsify lipids in feed into chyle granules, which is beneficial to intestinal absorption and utilization, and improves the digestion and absorption rate of lipids, protein and carbohydrates in feed; Activating lipase promotes bile secretion and excretion, and promotes the digestion and absorption of lipid substances, which has dual functions; Solve the problem of insufficient secretion of endogenous emulsifier caused by weaning stress in suckling pigs and piglets, and stimulate the development and maturity of internal organs; Dynamically assist to improve the function of liver and gallbladder and increase physical health; Improve the anti-stress ability of the body, improve the activities of SOD, glutathione peroxidase and glutathione reductase, remove free radicals and ensure the health of the body; Regulate the secretion of gastrin and thyroxine in the body, improve feed intake and promote growth.
