Introduction of Shanghai Mental Health Center Hospital

I. Origin

Shanghai Mental Health Center was established in 1935, formerly known as Shanghai Puci Sanatorium, located in the southwest suburb of Shanghai (now Minhang District). It is funded by philanthropist Lu Bohong and managed by the church. It was one of the largest and most well-equipped mental hospitals in the Far East at that time. The hospital covers an area of about 100 mu, with a building area of about 30,000 square meters.

Second, development.

After decades of efforts, Shanghai Mental Health Center has now become a third-class first-class mental health hospital in Shanghai, undertaking tasks such as medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, rehabilitation, psychological consultation/treatment and academic exchanges with foreign countries. It is the largest mental health institution with the most comprehensive business types and leading disciplines in China. In May 2006, Shanghai Mental Health Center became the affiliated hospital of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine.

Xuhui Campus of Shanghai Mental Health Center is located at No.600 Wanping South Road; Minhang Campus is located at No.3210, Humin Road. The total construction area is about 654.38 million square meters. The center is also the Mental Health Sub-center of Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Shanghai Mental Health Clinical Quality Control Center, Shanghai Psychological Counseling Training Center, National Psychotropic Drug Clinical Trial Institution and WHO/Shanghai Mental Health Research and Training Cooperation Center.

Third, medical care.

Shanghai Mental Health Center has complete clinical departments and strong technical force, and mainly treats patients with various mental disorders such as schizophrenia, mood disorder, organic mental disorder, mental disorder of children, adolescents and the elderly, neurotic disorder and drug dependence. The center has clinical departments such as general psychiatry and gerontology, rehabilitation, clinical psychology, child shortage, infection and voluntary detoxification. Approved beds 1878, and currently 2 149 beds are actually opened.

Shanghai Psychological Counseling and Treatment Center, located at No.604 Lingling Road, mainly provides psychological counseling services and conducts various psychological treatments for patients with various psychological disorders and people with psychological troubles. Shanghai Mental Health Hotline is one of the earliest hotlines in Shanghai. From June 5438 to February 2008, it merged with the Shanghai Public Health Public Service Telephone to form the "Shanghai Psychological Assistance Hotline", which continued to provide psychological crisis intervention and mental health promotion services for Shanghai citizens.

Fourth, science and education.

Shanghai Institute of Mental Health was established in March, 198 1. There are 14 laboratories, including drug dependence, biochemistry, genetics, neuroelectrophysiology, brain imaging, psychometrics, clinical epidemiology, adolescent behavior, psychological counseling and treatment, forensic psychiatry, psychological nursing and crisis intervention. Mainly engaged in clinical application research of psychiatry. In the past ten years, he has won 23 national, provincial and bureau-level scientific research achievement awards. At present, as the key medical disciplines in Shanghai, there are: Shanghai Mental Disease Clinical Medical Center, Geriatric Psychiatry and Preventive Psychiatry.

As the affiliated hospital of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine and the teaching hospitals of Fudan University, Shanghai Medical College, Tongji University School of Medicine and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the center has doctoral and master's degree programs in psychiatry and mental hygiene, postdoctoral workstations and master's degree programs in psychology. It is also the research and practice base of psychology teaching in Shanghai Normal University and East China Normal University. As one of WHO's collaborating centers for mental health research and training, it has conducted extensive academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation with psychiatrists all over the world.

Entrusted by the Ministry of Health, the center holds national continuing education programs such as psychiatrists, nursing refresher courses and seminars every year, and has trained a large number of psychiatric medical and nursing backbones. The psychological counseling and therapy training center has trained high-quality psychological counselors and psychotherapists for the whole country and formed a unique brand. Since 2009, the center has become the first standardized training base for residents in Shanghai.
