Xi Jiaotong University is the earliest well-known institution of higher learning in China and a key university directly under the Ministry of Education. The school is a key construction unit during the Seventh Five-Year Plan and the Eighth Five-Year Plan. It was one of the first batch of national "2 1 1" and "985" project construction schools.
