What is food safety?

Food safety means that food is non-toxic and harmless, meets the nutritional requirements, and will not cause any acute, subacute or chronic harm to human health. According to the definition of the World Health Organization, food safety is "a public health problem in which toxic and harmful substances in food affect human health". Food safety is also an interdisciplinary field, focusing on ensuring food hygiene and food safety, reducing hidden diseases and preventing food poisoning in the process of food processing, storage and sales.

Enterprises that have obtained the food quality and safety production license must mark the food quality and safety production license number uniformly formulated by the state on the food packaging of the smallest sales unit, and affix the food quality and safety market access mark "QS" before leaving the factory for sale. The style and usage of food quality and safety market access signs are uniformly formulated by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and consist of Chinese characters "QS" and "quality and safety". The main color of the logo is blue, the four Chinese characters "Q" and "Quality and Safety" are blue, and the letter "S" is white. When in use, it can be enlarged or reduced as needed, but it must not be deformed or discolored. The food labeled "QS" means that the food meets the basic requirements of quality and safety.
