IPM, full name Intelligent Power Module, i.e. Intelligent Power Module. Simply put, an Intelligent Power Module integrates the main switching device, the continuity diode, the driver circuit, the over-current protection circuit, the over-temperature protection circuit and the short-circuit protection circuit, as well as the driver power supply insufficient protection circuits, interface circuits and so on in the same package.
Main features of IPM include:
Small size and light weight: IPM modules are relatively small in size and light in weight because they bring together the power supply devices and control circuits, eliminating many redundant connections and peripherals.
Efficient and Reliable: Protection circuits in IPM modules often include current protection, voltage protection, and temperature protection, which can provide timely protection against equipment damage in the event of abnormal conditions.
Easy to use and maintain: IPM modules are easier to install and maintain because they integrate power equipment and circuitry into a single module.
Main applications:
Renewable energy: For example, solar and wind power systems.
Electric and hybrid vehicles: for motor control and charging systems.
Industrial motor control: in applications such as inverters and servo drives.
