Handheld ATP instrument is more suitable for on-site rapid detection than desktop ATP instrument.

China CDC has confirmed that ATP test results are linearly related to different concentrations of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and blood. Through the application and technical evaluation of ATP method for bacteria detection and surface cleanliness detection, ATP fluorescence detector has become a special detection equipment related to health supervision and food safety designated by China's health supervision and China's food and drug supervision official department, and has been designated by the state for rapid detection of surface cleanliness of objects and operators in food processing, storage and transportation, trade, catering service and medical system, and it is an important measure for building the capacity of health supervision and rapid detection in the field of food safety to purchase ATP fluorescence detector and supporting reagents. In China, the development of hand-held ATP fluorescence detector began around 2005.
