How much to charge for a nucleic acid test

Since 2020, nucleic acid testing of residents has become the norm due to the spread of the outbreak as a result of the ravages of the new coronavirus.

Especially since 2021, in order to prevent and control the spread of the epidemic, some localities have introduced policies that require people entering or leaving the local area to have a certificate of a negative nucleic acid test result within 72 hours. But a new problem has emerged recently, which is that the charges for nucleic acid tests in some places vary more or less, and even by a wide margin.

For a nucleic acid test, some medical institutions charge more than 40 yuan, some charge more than 60 yuan or 70 yuan, some charge about 84 yuan, and some charge about 96 yuan.

The cost of charging more than 90 yuan for a single test is about twice as much as charging more than 40 yuan. Recently, because of the confusion over the price charged for nucleic acid testing, it has caused an unnecessary financial burden on the public, aroused public dissatisfaction, and created an adverse impact in the community.

It is understood that the direct cost of a nucleic acid test is usually less than 40 dollars. However, the nucleic acid test fee is a comprehensive pricing behavior, should be comprehensively considered test kits, test reagents, instrumentation, utilities, transportation, labor costs, reasonable profits, different levels of hospitals, testing risks and other factors, to provide a more reasonable price of charges.

It is hoped that the relevant departments will pay attention to this issue and standardize the charges for nucleic acid testing as soon as possible, which can not only reduce the cost of testing for the masses, but also allow medical institutions to have a reasonable and legitimate service income.
