The 24-hour karting endurance race attracted 28 teams from across the country, with more than 200 drivers competing. The 24-hour race was organized in a relay format, with seven drivers from each team taking turns. Chen Yingxuan, the club's manager, was on the sidelines at the time of the accident, following the situation on the track. He told the Yangzi Evening News Ziniu News reporter that the race started at 4 p.m. on Dec. 24, and the accident happened more than six hours after the start of the race.
"After he came out of the last corner and entered the big straight, he had a collision with someone else, and then the body popped up and went out of control. The collision happened near the gantry, and he hit above his shoulder on top of the gantry's steel post." Chen Yingxuan recounted the incident.
A video of the race captured the process. In the video, Jiang Hao can be seen driving the car out of control and crashing heavily into the steel columns on one side of the gantry, after which the body bounced up and landed on the ground in reverse, with the driver collapsed on his side and unmoving. In another photo, Jiang Hao's white helmet can be seen covered in blood.

Seeing the team member's accident, Chen Yingxuan immediately rushed to the car and began to provide first aid to Jiang Hao. "I thought he was just knocked out, but when I ran to him, I saw blood on the ground. Looking in through the visor of his helmet, there was already a lot of blood." Chen Yingxuan said that as the race was still in progress, many riders were still unaware of what had happened. In order to avoid secondary injuries, he and other staff from the team moved Jiang Hao to the side of the field and began to perform artificial respiration and chest compressions for him. Unfortunately, the first aid was ineffective.

According to the obituary issued by Gravity Karting Club, Jiang Hao died at 20:24 on Dec. 25 at the age of 33 after failing to be rescued. The Resident's Medical Certificate of Death indicates that Jiang Hao's cause of death was acute extra-heavy craniocerebral injury.

Yangzi Evening News Ziniu News reporter was informed that the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in 2003 issued "karting field construction specifications", which is the national standard on the construction of the karting field. The document stipulates that the signal light pillars of outdoor go-kart track should be no less than 5 meters away from the edge of the track and be equipped with safety guards. When billboard pillars are located within the safety guard, their pillars are not allowed to be less than 10 meters from the edge of the track. And the Technical Specification for Karting Circuits issued by the China Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Federation in 2017 requires that all pillars and structures in a karting circuit that are located within the safety zone should be equipped with a protective wall on the outside, and recommends that a buffer distance of at least 0.5 meters be set aside.
Judging from the video and photos at the race site, the gantry column Ding Hao hit was only about 1 meter away from the track. Chen Yingxuan told reporters that there was only one layer of anti-collision guardrail set up next to the column, which failed to play a protective role.

The Technical Specification for Karting Circuits further proposes that the area of the medical center should not be less than 15 square meters, the width of the entrance and exit gates should be greater than 1.3 meters, and the medical center should be directly connected to the track. During the race, there shall be at least 2 medical and nursing staff with professional first aid skills, and ambulances shall be parked nearby.
But Chen Yingxuan told the Yangzi Evening News Ziniu News reporter that he did not see a medical center at the scene. He said an ambulance was on standby outside the track, but because it was separated from the track by a building and the access was blocked, the ambulance eventually arrived at the scene of the incident after about 10 minutes of waiting.

And according to him, the ambulance first took Jiang Hao to an eye hospital, which was closed at the time. The ambulance was then guided by a member of the convoy to Zhuzhou Central Hospital. Because there were no available ICU beds at the hospital, Jiang Hao was then transferred to the ICU ward of Zhuzhou Hospital for Traditional Chinese Medicine and Injuries.
The club challenged the venue on this basis, arguing that it had not established an effective link and green channel with the local hospital.

Public information shows that Zhuzhou International Circuit belongs to the Zhuzhou Lixing International Circuit Management Co.
According to the official website of Lixing Cloud Sports Technology Co., Ltd, Zhuzhou International Circuit is the first international racing circuit in Hunan with the qualification of International Automobile Sports Federation, and it is a project jointly developed by Zhuzhou Hi-Tech Group Ltd and Shanghai Lixing Racing Co. -Dr. Yao Qiming, the first Chinese track designer. It has an international secondary track, a test track, an international go-kart track and a car camp park, and is an experiential, professional and multi-functional international racing circuit integrating automobile sports, manufacturers' testing, members' experience, entertainment and recreation, and other functions.
The Zhuzhou International Karting Circuit covers an area of about 67 acres and is the largest karting circuit in Hunan. The track travels clockwise and is 1.048 kilometers long, 8-11 meters wide, ****setting up 14 curves, 6 left curves, 8 right curves, the maximum straight-line length of 182 meters, the maximum speed of 118.98km/h, and ****setting up 4 uphill and 6 downhill on the longitudinal section.
The functions of the supporting complex cover grandstand, reception hall, garage, P-room for resident teams, media center, outdoor terrace, medical center, office and maintenance workshop, etc. Whether in terms of track design or supporting facilities, the complex is capable of hosting international karting events of the corresponding level and all domestic karting events.

After the unfortunate incident, Jiang Hao's parents rushed to Zhuzhou to deal with the aftermath of their son, Chen Yingxuan told Yangzi Evening News Ziniu News reporter that the two old people are depressed, the psychological state is very unstable.
He said that the two old men put forward three demands on the organizers: compensation of 2.4 million yuan, to make the accident and apologize. Currently, the club is helping the two old men negotiate with the organizers, but it did not go smoothly. on the evening of December 28, the organizers gave Chen Yingxuan's reply said, "After the company discussed, can not fully meet the above three requirements."
Chen Yingxuan told reporters that the other party is willing to give compensation of 700,000 yuan, and their expectations are a big difference, "We hope to Jiang Hao's family to fight for reasonable compensation, after all, the two old people have only this one son, I hope the money can give the old man's old age to provide some protection."
December 29, Chen Yingxuan told Yangzi Evening News ZiNiu News reporter, at present they have commissioned a local lawyer team in Hunan to deal with compensation matters, ready to defend their rights through legal means.
Chen Yingxuan believes that go-karting has a certain degree of danger, in the race collision is not uncommon, but if the safety protection facilities fully meet the standard, while the rescue work in place, it should not cause such serious consequences. As far as he knows, there has been no precedent of a driver's death in a regular domestic karting competition.
The reporter saw that the order book of this event has made provisions for drivers' wearing equipment, including helmet requirements.
