Advantages and disadvantages of FPC flexible board

1, advantages: (1) can be freely bent, wound and folded, can be arbitrarily arranged according to the requirements of spatial layout, and can be arbitrarily moved and unfolded in three-dimensional space, thus realizing the integration of component assembly and wire connection; (2) Using FPC can greatly reduce the volume and weight of electronic products, which is suitable for the development of electronic products in the direction of high density, miniaturization and high reliability. Therefore, FPC soft board has been widely used in aerospace, military, mobile communication, notebook computers, computer peripherals, PDA, digital cameras and other fields or products; (3)FPC flexible board also has the advantages of good heat dissipation, good weldability, easy assembly and connection, and low comprehensive cost. The design of soft and hard combination also makes up for the slight deficiency of flexible substrate in component bearing capacity to some extent. 2. Disadvantages: (1) One-time initial cost is high. Because flexible PCB is designed and manufactured for special applications, the initial circuit design, wiring and photographic master are expensive. Unless there is a special need to apply flexible PCB, it is usually best not to use it in a few applications. (2) It is difficult to change and repair the flexible PCB. Once the flexible PCB is made, it must be changed from the base map or the compiled optical drawing program, which is not easy to change. Its surface is covered with a protective film, which needs to be removed before repair and restored after repair. This is a difficult job. (3) Flexible PCB with limited size is usually manufactured by batch process when it is not popular, and it cannot be made very long and wide due to the size of production equipment. (4) Improper operation is easy to damage. Improper operation by assemblers is easy to damage flexible circuits, and its welding and rework need trained personnel to operate.
