Pingyao Deyizhai Inn is one of the best hotels, with upscale interiors. Pingyao, Shanxi is known as one of the "four best-preserved ancient cities" and is one of only two ancient cities in China to have been successfully declared a World Heritage Site with an entire ancient city.
Located in the center of Shanxi Province, the ancient city of Pingyao was built during the reign of King Xuan of the Zhou Dynasty and expanded in 1370 by the Ming Dynasty's Hongwu Emperor, with a history of more than 2,700 years. It has retained the basic features of the county town during the Ming and Qing dynasties, and is the most complete ancient city remaining in China's Han ethnic area.

Pingyao County in Jinzhong (112.19°E, 37.21°N) is located in the central part of Shanxi Province in northern China, in the middle reaches of the Yellow River, in the east part of the Loess Plateau and in the southwestern part of the Taiyuan Basin. The county is 616 kilometers northeast of the capital Beijing, 90 kilometers north of the provincial capital Taiyuan, 543 kilometers west of the ancient capital Xi'an, 758 kilometers east of the port of Tianjin, and 2,390 kilometers south of the coast of Guangzhou. Pingyao County has a total area of 1,260 square kilometers.
II. Climatic Characteristics
Pingyao Ancient City has a temperate monsoon climate with four distinct seasons and plenty of light. Summer is hot and rainy, and winter is cold and dry. July is the hottest month of the year and January is the coldest. Precipitation varies greatly from year to year and is unevenly distributed within the year, concentrating mainly on the four months of June, July, August and September.
