Yinchuan Energy Institute of Electric Power College was founded in April 2004, the existing electrical engineering and automation, energy and power engineering, smart grid information engineering and other 3 undergraduate specialties; power plants and power systems, power plants, thermal power plants, power supply technology, electrical automation technology, power system automation technology, such as the 5 senior professional, electrical automation equipment installation and maintenance, electrical appliances, assembly and maintenance of 2 advanced technology. There are 2 senior technician majors such as electrical automation equipment installation and maintenance and electrical machinery assembly and maintenance. Among them, the power system automation technology specialty was appraised as the backbone demonstration construction specialty by the autonomous region in 2008, and the electrical automation technology specialty was appraised as the backbone demonstration construction specialty by the autonomous region in 2009. The teaching team of power system automation technology was listed by the autonomous region as the teaching team of higher educational institutions in 2011; the teaching team of energy and power engineering was listed by the autonomous region as the teaching team of higher educational institutions in 2012; it was awarded as the advanced grass-roots party organization of the education system of the whole region in 2011, and was awarded as the advanced collective of the "quality project" of higher educational institutions of the autonomous region in 2012. Power Engineering
The College of Electric Power consists of the College Office, the Student Work Department, the Experimental Training Center, the Electronic Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, the Institute of Electrical Automation, the Thermal and Power Engineering Teaching and Research Department, the Electric Power Engineering Teaching and Research Department, the Industrial Automation Teaching and Research Department, and the Electrical and Electronic Teaching and Research Department. There are 1664 full-time students, 76 full-time and part-time teaching staff, including 7 professors, 16 associate professors, 9 senior engineers, 3 PhDs, 22 masters, 31% of the teachers with master's degree or above, and 42% of the teachers with associate senior professional and technical titles or above. The counselor plus director system is implemented in student management.
In recent years, the School of Electric Power has made great achievements in scientific research, quality project construction and vocational skills competition. It has undertaken one project of Natural Science Fund of the autonomous region, one district-level quality course, five district-level teaching reform projects, and five district-level college student innovation and entrepreneurship programs; it has undertaken five university-level scientific research projects, nine university-level key course construction, 19 university-level teaching reform projects, and one university-level college student innovation and entrepreneurship program. It has published four textbooks for higher vocational colleges and universities in the 12th Five-Year Plan, including "Fundamentals of Electric Power System", "Relay Protection of Electric Power System", "Fundamentals of Electric Circuits", and "Principles and Applications of Automatic Control". Participating in the 8th Bochuang-NXP Cup National College Students' Embedded Internet of Things Design Competition, he won the first prize in the Northwest Region and the third prize in the National Finals. Participating in the First National Higher Vocational Boiler Operator Skills Competition, he won the third prize of the group and the third prize of the individual; in the Second, Third and Fourth Vocational Education Skills Competitions of the Autonomous Region, he won one group first prize and one individual first prize of the project of "Assembling and Debugging of Frequency Conversion and Speed Regulation System" respectively. The School of Electric Power now has 23 laboratories for relay protection, high and low-voltage distribution, control engineering, process control, steam turbine, thermal instrumentation, boiler, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, etc.; it has 10 training rooms for installation of external wiring, installation of secondary wiring, and inverter speed control, motor overhaul, etc.; and there is a simulation room of electric power system, which is capable of carrying out the training of all-around watchman of a 300MW coal-fired power plant and the simulation training of a 220kV transformer substation. The simulation room of electric power system is built, which can carry out simulation training of 300MW thermal power plant all-round duty officer and 220kV substation. Power College gives full play to the advantages of talents and experimental equipment, successfully completed the pre-service training of thermal power plants in Inner Mongolia Bayannur Zijin Nonferrous Metals Company and other four enterprises, training staff of nearly 600 people. Now with Huaneng Ningxia Dam Power Generation Co., Ltd. and other 8 enterprises signed a school-enterprise cooperation agreement.
The College of Electric Power implements the "dual-certification" system of education, which can carry out the training and certification of "Maintenance Electrician" (intermediate and advanced), Stoker (Class III) Special Operation Certificate, Electrician Special Operation Certificate, etc. The passing rate of students' certification reaches more than 90%. Power College of professional settings, personnel training in line with regional economic development and talent market demand, the last three years, the student employment rate are more than 95%, graduates by the employers generally praise.
