What is CMMI?

CMMI's full name is Capability Maturity Model Integration, or Capability Maturity Model Integration.

CMMI is the latest version of the CMM model. In the early days of CMMI (CMMI-se/SW/IPPD), SEI started to be promoted and tried out in some countries and regions. With the popularity of the application and the development of the model itself, the deductive approach has become a widely used comprehensive model.

The CMM model, since its introduction in the late 1980s and widely used for software process improvement in the 1990s, has greatly contributed to the improvement of software productivity and software quality, and has made great contributions to the development and growth of the software industry.

The basic idea of CMMI:

The process improvement of software project is a difficult problem to solve. After the successful implementation of CMM, it greatly improves the development efficiency of software enterprises and the quality of software products, which improves the reliability of software products and the credibility of the software industry, and makes people put more hope on software. People hope that software can accomplish more, bigger and more complex tasks.

Enabling Parallelism and Multidisciplinary Integration in Software Engineering. The successful practice of the CMM model has fostered dramatic changes in engineering organizations and product development. The main goal of the change was to eliminate the inefficiencies associated with segmented development. During segmented development, there can be significant rework to correct original misunderstandings when intermediate products are transferred to employees at the next stage.
