Article 47 of the Anti-Drug Law: "The period of compulsory isolation is two years. After one year of compulsory isolation, the diagnosis and assessment, for the drug rehabilitation of good condition of the drug addicts, compulsory isolation of drug rehabilitation places can put forward early release of compulsory isolation of drug rehabilitation opinions, reported to the decision-making body of the compulsory isolation of drug rehabilitation approval. Prior to the expiration of the period of compulsory isolation, after diagnosis and assessment, for those drug addicts who need to extend the period of drug rehabilitation, the compulsory isolation facility shall put forward an opinion on the extension of the period of drug rehabilitation, which shall be submitted to the decision-making authority for approval. The period of compulsory isolated drug rehabilitation may be extended for a maximum of one year."
Article 27 of the Regulations on Drug Rehabilitation: "The term of compulsory isolation for drug rehabilitation shall be two years, calculated from the date on which the decision on compulsory isolation for drug rehabilitation is made. After a person subject to compulsory isolation for drug addiction has been undergoing compulsory isolation for three to six months in a place of compulsory isolation for drug addiction treatment by a public security organ, he or she shall be transferred to a place of compulsory isolation for drug addiction treatment by a judicial administrative department to continue to undergo compulsory isolation for drug addiction treatment."
Compulsory drug rehabilitation refers to the compulsory drug treatment, psychotherapy, and legal and moral education of persons addicted to drugs by smoking and injecting drugs for a certain period of time by means of administrative measures, so as to enable them to give up their drug addiction. Compulsory drug treatment is supervised by the public security organs. Health departments and civil affairs departments of local people's governments at or above the county level shall cooperate with the authorities at the same level to do a good job in compulsory drug rehabilitation.
