The charges of public-run elderly institutions implement the standards approved by the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, while private elderly institutions implement market-adjusted prices. According to the Notice of Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission of Shenzhen Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau on Adjustment of Charges for Pension Services in Public-run Nursing Institutions (Shenzhen Development and Reform 〔2017〕 No. 548), the specific charges are as follows:
(a) Bed fee, RMB 710 per person per month for newly-occupied senior citizens, which already includes water, electricity, disinfection and washing fee, and disposable equipment fee; as the original occupants of the senior citizens have already paid the disposable equipment fee, the implementation of this notice before the elderly have moved in per person monthly bed fee of 620 yuan.
(ii) Nursing care fee, general nursing care per person per month 620 yuan; half nursing care per person per month 1,100 yuan; full nursing care per person per month 1,650 yuan.
Special care service charges are determined by mutual agreement between the elderly or their families (agents) and the nursing institutions according to the care needs.
Publicly-funded elderly care institutions are free of charge for the elderly in special hardship (those who are incapable of working, have no source of livelihood, have no breadwinner and no supporter, or whose breadwinner and supporter are incapable of providing support and maintenance), and low-cost charges are implemented for the incapacitated and elderly people from low-income families who have difficulty in paying for their living, and basic elderly care service charges and meal charges are collected according to the city's minimum living standard for residents announced in the current year. The standard of protection is charged.
