On March 20th, 1985, Qinshan nuclear power plant project officially started construction. The builders bombed mountains and filled the sea. 100 more than scientific research units, 7 design institutions,10/construction units, plus more than 500 carefully selected equipment manufacturers from all over the country, are concentrated by the Ministry of Nuclear Industry and gather in Haiyan.

Qinshan Nuclear Power Base has 9 operating units with a total installed capacity of 6.564 million kilowatts and an annual power generation of about 50 billion kWh. It is the nuclear power base with the largest number of nuclear power units, the richest variety of reactors and the largest installed capacity in China. As of April 20th, 20 18, Qinshan Nuclear Power Base has generated 500 billion kWh of electricity safely.
China's nuclear power industry has achieved a technological leap from a 300,000-kilowatt prototype reactor in Qinshan Phase I to a 600,000-kilowatt reactor in Qinshan Phase II, and then to a million-kilowatt unit "Hualong No.1" with completely independent intellectual property rights. At present, all the nodes of the construction of four "Hualong No.1" nuclear power units at home and abroad under construction by CNNC have been completed on schedule or ahead of schedule, and the safety and quality of the project are under good control.
