White copper is mainly an alloy composed of copper elements and nickel elements.
White copper is a copper-based alloy with nickel as the main added element, which is silver-white in color and has a metallic luster, hence the name white copper. When the nickel melted into the red copper, the content of more than 16%, the resulting alloy color becomes white as silver, the higher the nickel content, the whiter the color. The nickel content in white copper is generally 25%.
In the copper alloy, white copper because of excellent corrosion resistance, and easy to shape, processing and welding, widely used in shipbuilding, petroleum, chemical industry, construction, electric power, precision instrumentation, medical equipment, musical instruments, such as making corrosion-resistant structural parts. Some white copper also has special electrical properties, can make resistance components, thermocouple materials and compensation wire. Non-industrial copper is mainly used to make decorative crafts.
Classification of copper:
1, complex copper:
Added with manganese, iron, zinc, aluminum and other elements of copper alloy known as the complex copper (i.e., more than three copper), including iron copper, manganese, zinc, copper and aluminum copper. In the complex copper alloy, the second major element symbols and copper content other than the composition of the digital representation of the content of various elements. For example, BMn3-12 indicates that the nickel content is about 3% and the manganese content is about 12%.
2, ordinary white copper:
Copper-nickel binary alloy (i.e., binary white copper) is called ordinary white copper. In ordinary white copper, the letter B indicates the content of nickel, such as: B5 indicates that the nickel content is about 5%, and the rest is about the copper content. Model B0.6, B19, B25, B30.
3, industrial copper:
Industrial copper is divided into two categories of structural copper and precision resistance alloys with copper (electrical copper). Structural copper is characterized by good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, beautiful color; and precision resistance alloy with copper (electrical copper) has good thermoelectric properties.
