PCI-E?X16 is the main function of inserting the graphics card, PCI-E?X1 is mainly connected to the sound card.
One of the blue slots is the X16 slot, which is mainly for graphics cards; the two small blue slots are the X1 slots, which are mainly for sound cards.
2. PCI-E interfaces vary by bus bit-width, including X1, X4, X8, and X16. PCI-E specifications range from 1-lane to 32-lane connections, and are highly scalable to meet the varying demands of different system devices for data transfer bandwidth. In addition, shorter PCI-E cards can be inserted into longer PCI-E slots. Most of the popular graphics cards, discrete sound cards, and network cards now use PCI-E sockets.
The difference between the two is as follows:
1. PCI-Express x1/x2/x4, supported by the Southbridge.
PCI-Express x8/x16, supported by the North Bridge.
2. x1/x2 is mainly used to expand low-speed devices such as sound cards and NICs, and is used to eliminate PCI slots.
x4 is used to expand medium-speed devices such as disk array cards, and is used to phase out PCI-X slots.
x8/x16 is used to expand tell-tale devices such as graphics cards, and is used to phase out AGP slots.
