ICU required equipment

ICU Required Equipment China Guidelines for the Construction and Management of Intensive Care Units (2006)

(1) Each bed is equipped with a complete functional equipment belt or functional rack, providing functional support such as electricity, oxygen, compressed air and negative pressure suction. Each guardianship bed is assembled with more than 12 power outlets, more than 2 oxygen ports, 2 compressed air ports and more than 2 negative pressure suction ports. Medical power and living lighting power lines are separated. The power supply of each ICU bed should be an independent feedback circuit supply. ICU should have a backup uninterruptible power system (UPS) and leakage protection device; it is best to have an independent circuit breaker for each circuit socket on the main panel.

(ii) Beds suitable for ICU use should be equipped with anti-decubitus mattresses.

(c) Each bed is equipped with a bedside monitoring system for basic vital signs such as electrocardiography, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, and invasive pressure monitoring. To facilitate the safe transfer of patients, each ICU unit is equipped with at least one portable monitor.

(d) The ICU of a tertiary hospital should be equipped with a ventilator per bed, and the ICU of a secondary hospital can be equipped with an appropriate number of ventilators according to actual needs. Each bed is equipped with a simple respirator (resuscitation breathing airbag). To facilitate the safe transfer of patients, each ICU unit should have at least 1 portable ventilator.

(E) infusion pumps and microinjector pumps should be equipped with each bed, of which microinjector pumps more than 2 sets per bed. Also equipped with a certain number of enteral nutrition infusion pump.

(6) other equipment: electrocardiogram, blood gas analyzer, defibrillator, blood purification instrument, continuous hemodynamics and oxygen metabolism monitoring equipment, cardiopulmonary resuscitation rescue equipment car (the car is equipped with laryngoscopes, tracheal catheters, a variety of connectors, first aid medicines, as well as other rescue appliances, etc.), extracorporeal pacemakers, fiber optic bronchoscopes, electronic elevation of temperature equipment, etc..

(vii) The hospital or ICU must have enough equipment to provide bedside ultrasound, X-ray, biochemistry and bacteriology for ICU at any time.

ICU optional equipment

In addition to the above mandatory equipment, if possible, depending on the need for the following optional equipment:

(a) simple biochemistry and lactate analyzer.

(2) Closed-circuit television (CCTV) visitation system, one imaging probe per bed.

(iii) Electroencephalographic dual-frequency index monitor (BIS).

(iv) Infusion warming equipment.

(v) Gastric mucosal carbon dioxide tension and pHi meter.

(vi) Monitoring equipment for end-expiratory carbon dioxide and metabolism.

(vii) Extracorporeal membrane lung (ECMO).

(viii) Bedside EEG and intracranial pressure monitoring equipment.

(ix) Intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation (IABP) and left heart assisted circulation devices.

(x) Counterpulsation handling devices to prevent the development of lower extremity DVT.

(xi) Chest shock expectoration device.
