Preface Introduction
The entire technical content of this standard is mandatory.
This standard refers to the International Organization for Standardization ISO 7010 Graphical symbols-Safety colours and safety -signs Safety signs used in workplaces and public areas(Graphical symbols -Safety colors and safety -signs Safety signs used in workplaces and public areas), combined with GB/T 10001 "signs with public **** information graphic symbols" and GB 13495 "fire safety signs" was revised, supplemented.
This standard on the current national standards GB 2894-1996 "safety signs", GB 16179-1996 "safety signs use guidelines" and GB 18217-2000 "laser safety signs" to merge and revise.
This standard and GB 2894-1996, GB 16179-1996 and GB 18217-2000, compared with the content of the changes are mainly:
-- In accordance with the requirements of GB/T 1.1, the GB 2894-1996, GB 16179- 1996 and GB 18217-2000 have been merged, supplemented and revised, and the standard text has been redrafted;
--Adjustment of the scope of application of the standard;

Guidelines for safety signs and their use
1 Scope
This standard specifies the principles of signs and their setup and use for conveying safety information.
This standard applies to public **** places, industrial enterprises, construction sites and other places where it is necessary to remind people of safety.

3?Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this standard.
3.1 safety sign?safety sign
A sign used to express specific safety information, consisting of graphic symbols, safety colors, geometric shapes (borders) or text.
3.2 safety color
The color that conveys the meaning of safety information, including red, blue, yellow and green colors.
3.3 Prohibition sign
A graphic sign that prohibits unsafe behavior.
3.4 Warning sign
A graphic sign that reminds people to pay attention to their surroundings to avoid possible danger.
3.5 Direction sign
Forcing people to make some kind of action or adopt precautionary measures of the graphic signs.
3.6 information sign
Provide people with some kind of information (such as marking safety facilities or places, etc.) of the graphic signs.
3.7 Explanatory sign
A sign that provides specific information (e.g. safety classification or protective measures) to people, consisting of a geometric border and text.
3.8 environmental information sign
The information provided covers a large area of graphic signs. Sign type code: H.
3.9 partial information sign
The information provided only involves a certain location, or even a certain equipment or parts of the graphic symbol. Sign type code: J.
4?Sign types
Safety signs are divided into four major types: prohibition signs, warning signs, instruction signs and prompt signs.
4.1?Prohibit sign
4.1.1?The basic form of the prohibit sign is a round border with a slash, as shown in Figure 1.
4.1.2?Parameters of the basic form of the prohibition sign:

Slash bar and the horizontal line of the angle a = 45 °;

4.2?Warning signs
4.2.1?The basic type of the warning sign is a positive triangular border, as shown in Fig. 2.

4.4.4?Hint signs of the direction of the auxiliary signs:
Hint signs to indicate the location of the target to be added to the direction of the auxiliary signs. According to the actual need to indicate the left direction, the auxiliary sign should be placed on the left side of the graphic symbol; such as the indication of the right direction, it should be placed on the right side of the graphic symbol, as shown in Figure 5.
4.5?Text auxiliary sign
4.5.1?Text auxiliary sign of the basic type is a rectangular border.
4.5.2?Text-assisted signs have both horizontal and vertical forms.
4.5.2.1?When written horizontally, the text-assisted sign is written below the sign and may be attached to or separated from the sign.
Prohibition signs, instruction signs are white characters; warning signs are black characters. Prohibit sign, instruction sign lining background color is the color of the sign, warning sign lining background color is white, as shown in Figure 6.
4.5.2.2?When written vertically, the text auxiliary sign is written on the upper part of the sign pole.
Prohibition signs, warning signs, instruction signs, and reminder signs are written in white backing color with black letters.
The color of the ribbon on the lower part of the sign post should be consistent with the color of the sign. As shown in Figure 7
4.5.2.3?Text fonts are all in bold.
4.6?Laser radiation window signs and instructions signs
Laser radiation window signs and instructions signs should be used in conjunction with the "Beware of laser" warning signs, instructions signs, including laser products, radiation classification instructions signs and laser radiation site safety instructions signs, laser radiation window signs and instructions signs of Graphics, dimensions and methods of use see Appendix C.
5?Color
The color of the safety signs used should be consistent with the colors specified in GB 2893.
6?Requirements for safety signage
6.1?Signage lining
Safety signage to be lined. In addition to the warning sign border with a yellow hook edge, all the rest with white will be border hook a narrow edge, that is, for the safety sign of the lining edge, lining edge width for the sign side length or diameter of 0.025 times.
6.2?Signage material
Safety signage should be made of durable materials, generally should not be used in water deformation, deterioration or flammable materials. Insulating materials should be used in workplaces where there is a risk of electric shock.?
6.3?Signage surface quality
The signage should be graphically clear, free of burrs, holes and any defects affecting the use.
7?Signage model selection (model see appendix A)
7.1?Site, factory, etc., at the entrance to the 6 or 7 type.
7.2 Type 5 or 6 is provided at the entrance of workshops, inside plants and construction sites.
7.3?Type 4 or 5 in workshops.
7.4?Type 1, 2 or 3 for local information signs.
Regardless of the plant or workshop, the signage set up its observation distance can not cover the whole plant or workshop area, there should be a few more signage.
8 signage set up height
Signage set up height, should try to be consistent with the height of the human eye line of sight. Suspended and column type environmental information signage lower edge from the ground height should not be less than 2m; local information signage should be set up depending on the specific circumstances to determine the height.
9?Safety signage requirements
9.1?Signage should be located in safety-related conspicuous place, and make everyone see, have enough time to pay attention to what it indicates. Environmental information signs should be located at the entrance and in a conspicuous place of the place concerned; local information signs should be located in a conspicuous place near the corresponding hazardous location or equipment (component) involved. The use of safety signs for laser products and laser workplaces is shown in Appendix C.
9.2?Signs should not be located on movable objects such as doors, windows, shelves, etc., so that the signs do not move accordingly with the parent object, thus affecting readability. Signage shall not be placed in front of the obstacles that hinder the recognition.
9.3?The plane of the signboard and the line of sight angle should be close to 90 °, the observer is located in the maximum observation distance, the minimum angle is not less than 75 °, such as Figure 8.
9.4?Signage should be set in a bright environment.
9.5?When multiple signboards are set up together, they should be arranged in the order of warning, prohibition, instruction, and prompting types, first left, then right, first up, then down.
9.6?The fixing method of the signboard is divided into three types: attached type, hanging type and post type. Suspended and attached to the fixed should be stable and not tilted, post type signage and bracket should be firmly coupled together.
9.7 Other requirements should be consistent with the provisions of GB/T 15566.
10?Inspection and maintenance
10.1?Safety signage should be inspected at least once every six months, and should be repaired or replaced in time if it is found to be damaged, deformed, faded and other non-compliance.
10.2?There should be temporary sign replacement when repairing or replacing laser safety signs to avoid accidental injuries.?

C.4? .1?Use of laser product safety symbols
C.4.1.1?Laser safety symbols are required for all laser products that may reach Class 2. Each device shall have both a laser warning symbol, a laser safety classification statement symbol, and a laser window symbol. See Figure C.2 for an example of the use of laser product safety symbols.
C.4.1.2?Laser safety symbols shall be affixed where they can be clearly seen by personnel without exposing them to more than Class 1 radiation. The laser classification description sign shall be placed directly below the laser warning sign, and the laser window sign shall be placed in the vicinity of the laser outlet (Class 3 and 4 laser products shall have a window sign affixed to all windows of laser radiation that may reach Class 2).
C.4.1.3 If the size or design of the laser product does not allow for mounting, the logo shall be provided to the user as an accessory.
C.4.2?Use of Safety Signs for Laser Workplaces
C.4.2.1?Laser safety signs are required for all workplaces where Class 3B and Class 4 laser products are used. The laser warning sign may be used alone or in conjunction with the laser warning sign and the laser radiation site safety classification statement sign, when the laser radiation site classification statement sign shall be placed directly below the laser warning sign.
C.4.2.2 The laser safety sign shall be installed at the location where Class 3A laser products are used for measurement, collimation, and leveling.
C.4.2.3?The laser safety sign shall be affixed in a location that is obvious in the laser protection area, where personnel can notice the sign and know what is shown without being exposed to more than Class 1 radiation. Multiple signs shall be provided when the signs provided do not cover the entire work area.
C.4.2.4?Permanent laser protection area should be set up at the entrance and exit of the laser safety signs, in the temporary protection area by the movable baffle, guardrail enclosure in addition to the entrance and exit must be set up laser safety signs, but also must be set up in each piece of the protective fence and baffle boards form the movable parts or maintenance joints laser safety signs, in order to prevent these boards separated or joints disconnected when people exposure to harmful laser radiation when these panels are separated or joints are disconnected.
