The World Economic Forum welcomes 18 new factories to the Global Beacon Network with the release of a new white paper, Global Beacon Networks: Fresh Insights from the Technological Frontiers of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. These 18 new factories enhance the diversity of the lighthouse network, including new entrants such as Brazil, Japan and Singapore, as well as new industries such as semiconductors and agricultural equipment. Nearly half of the new lighthouses are end-to-end factories, driving value creation beyond the factory to impact transformation across the value chain.
The Global Beacon Network is managed by the World Economic Forum in partnership with McKinsey & Company. The Global Beacon Network is comprised of advanced manufacturing companies that have demonstrated exceptional leadership in applying Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to improve operational performance and environmental impact. The Global Beacon Network was established in 2017 and currently has 44 Beacon Factories***. These 44 Beacon Factories are leaders in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. They typically start at the manufacturing level, adopting the latest technologies to improve sustainability, agility, speed to market, and productivity, thereby innovating operational systems at the enterprise level. The value of this innovation is not limited to the manufacturing floor, but spans the entire end-to-end value chain from supplier to customer.
