Hong Kong Baptist Hospital has a long history of providing cardiology services. In 1998, the Heart Centre was established with a wide range of equipment, including a state-of-the-art cardiovascular imaging system, to provide comprehensive cardiology examination, diagnosis and treatment to the public.
Hong Kong Baptist Hospital has a long history of providing dermatology services. In 1993, a Skin Laser Service was introduced and a Skin Laser Center was established in 2004. To further enhance the quality of service, the Skin Center will be opened in 2005 to provide a more comprehensive range of dermatology services.
The Department of Diagnostic Radiology has been constantly updating and introducing the latest diagnostic equipment. The first computerized X-ray scanner was purchased in 1977, which was followed by computerized scanning and the establishment of a new Diagnostic Centre, the Magnetic **** Vibration Scanning Centre in 1990, the Stone Treatment Centre in 1993 and the introduction of the Positron Emission Dual Fusion Scanning (PET) and Computerized Dual Fusion Scanning (CDS), which was specially designed for the diagnosis of cancer patients, in 2002.
The Hong Kong Baptist Hospital Au Shue Hung Health Centre Building, built with a generous donation from Mr. Au Shue Hung, was opened in 1983 to provide elderly services, rehabilitation services, child care services, medical services, paramedical services and catering services. In order to expand the medical services, increase the number of beds and bed space, the building is being redeveloped and the new building is expected to be completed and opened in early 2007.
