Extended Information
The single-track school system is represented by the United States. All levels of schooling are interconnected, from elementary and middle school to college, but arts education and physical education are independent of this system.
Branch-type school system
Branch-type school system is represented by the Soviet Union. It consists of a single school system at the primary and secondary education stages, after which (in middle or high school) it begins to diverge, and a variety of school systems (general academic and vocational) are formed to articulate with it.
The whole school system thus constituted resembles a fork, so this type of school system is also known as the bifurcated school system.
