1, total number of medical and health institutions. At the end of 2002 1030935 medical and health institutions were established nationwide, an increase of 80 13 over the previous year. Among them, there are 36,570 hospitals, 977,790 primary medical and health institutions and professional public health institutions13,276. Compared with last year, the number of hospitals increased by 1 176, and the number of primary health care institutions increased by 7754. There are 10 national medical centers and national regional medical centers in China.
2. Among hospitals, public hospitals 1 1804 and private hospitals 24766. Hospitals are divided into 3,275 tertiary hospitals (including tertiary hospitals 165 1), secondary hospitals 10848, primary hospitals 12649 and 9,798 unclassified hospitals (see table 1).
3. According to the number of beds, there are 2 1909 beds below 100, 54 12 beds between 100 and 199, and 500-799 beds between 200 and 499.
4. Among the primary medical and health institutions, there are 36 160 community health service centers (including 22 community health service centers10/22 and 26,038 community health service stations), 34,943 township hospitals, 2,765,438 clinics and health clinics, and 59,056 village clinics.

There are 3,376 centers for disease prevention and control in professional public health institutions, including 3/kloc-0 at the provincial level, 4 10 at the prefecture (city) level and 2,755 at the county (district, county-level city) level. There are 30 10 health supervision institutions, including 25 at the provincial level, 3 15 at the prefecture (city) level and 2487 at the county (district, county-level city) level. There are 3032 maternal and child health care institutions, including 26 at the provincial level, 377 at the prefecture (city) level and 2554 at the county (district, county-level city) level.
