Huaneng Dandong Power Plant has 288 regular employees, 239 with college degree or above, accounting for 82.99% of the total number of employees, 171 senior and intermediate professional and technical personnel, accounting for 59.38% of the total number of employees.
Huaneng Dandong Power Plant is financed by Huaneng International Power Company Limited and Liaoning Province, Northeast Electric Power Group Company and Dandong City***, with a planned capacity of 2,600MW and completed in three phases. The first phase of the project was approved by the State Council in March 1997, the construction scale for the installation of two 350MW imported coal-fired units, designed to generate 4.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, in 1998 all completed and put into operation.
Huaneng Dandong Power Plant, a project of two 350MW units of equipment and major materials are approved by the state for the introduction of foreign investment projects, 85% of the required foreign capital for export credit, 15% for commercial loans. The main equipment turbine motors were provided by Westinghouse of the United States, and the boilers were provided by Babcock & Co. of the United Kingdom. The conceptual design and external interface municipality is undertaken by the Northeast Electric Power Design Institute.
Huaneng Dandong Power Plant has an annual coal-fired capacity of about 2.2 million tons, which is supplied by the Jungar Coal Mine in Inner Mongolia, transported to Qinhuangdao via the Daqin Line, and then transferred by sea to the special coal terminal for the power plant in the Dadong port area. The boiler make-up water of the power plant is taken from the Tiejia Reservoir which is about 24 kilometers away from the power plant, the circulating cooling water is taken from seawater, and the ash storage yard is used in the beach land of reed ponds, and the first phase of the project is connected to the electric power system with four 220kV outgoing lines.
Huaneng Dandong power plant is the largest investment project ever in Dandong, which will have a pulling effect on the Dandong economy.
