Among the relief teams from various countries assisting our country, Japan's International Emergency Response Team (IERT), which not only arrived in Taiwan the fastest but also mobilized a whopping 145 people, this trip to Taiwan is the 15th time it has been deployed. Its members included officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, earthquake medical and firefighting personnel, and others. They also brought rescue dogs and advanced equipment such as infrared sensors that can detect information about earthquake survivors.
8 U.S.A.: The U.S. Disaster Relief Team, which is from Fairfax County, Virginia, was established in 1949 and is the largest team in Virginia, as well as one of the best disaster relief teams in the nation. Its mission is to provide multi-directional services such as fire fighting, emergency medical care, and technical support to the public. Especially in the broken walls, search and rescue trapped survivors, the effectiveness of the phase is remarkable. The members who came to Taiwan this time included experts in building collapse, site safety, post-disaster search and rescue, and backup, and were also equipped with rescue dogs to help locate trapped survivors in a timely manner. They arrived on the afternoon of Sept. 22 aboard a U.S. Air Force C5B Galaxy jumbo jet, which, in addition to rescue personnel and rescue dogs, included three rescue vehicles, one of which was a 40-foot cargo trailer, and 106,000 pounds of search and rescue equipment.
4France:
The French rescue team included 55 people and 10 rescue dogs with 3.5 tons of special equipment. It is an experienced team, which was involved in the search and rescue work of the great earthquake in Turkey some days ago.
5Russia:
Russia's rescue mission, comprising ***73 members, arrived in Taiwan aboard a special military plane, the first Russian plane to arrive in Taiwan since the former Soviet Union. There are also rescue teams from Singapore, Turkey, South Korea, Thailand, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Spain, and Canada that have come to Taiwan to carry out rescues.
