The bridge starts from Zhengjiadai, Haiyan, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, in the north and ends at Shuiluwan, Cixi, Ningbo City, in the south.

With a total length of 36 kilometers, 11 kilometers longer than the King Fahd Bridge connecting Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the bridge has held the world record for the longest sea-crossing bridge in the world by the Chinese World Records Association, and it is now the world's third-longest sea-crossing bridge following the U.S. Lake Pontchartrain Bridge and the Qingdao Jiaozhou Bay Bridge.
