The laboratory was formerly known as Subject Group 204 in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Southeast University, and after the merger of the subject groups in 2006, it was affiliated to the Department of Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation in the School of Mechanical Engineering of Southeast University.
The laboratory is divided into two groups, including the Micro-Nano Electromechanical Group, which was established in 2003 and specializes in micro-nano electromechanical devices, microfluid dynamics and microscale heat transfer; and the Micro-Nano Biomedical Devices Group, which was established in 2004 and is mainly engaged in the development of cardiac vascular scaffolds and biochips. Since 2008, the two groups have been merged to form the Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Micro-Nano Biomedical Device Design and Manufacturing.
