Since its establishment, the Institute has successively undertaken the gas engineering design of more than 50 large and medium-sized coking plants, more than 80 refractory village material factories, and more than 30 provincial capitals and coastal open cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Kunming, Fuzhou, Dalian and Qingdao. A variety of "triple supply technologies" integrating gas, oil and gas, steam supply, power supply and gas supply, as well as new special fire-resistant technologies for steelmaking and continuous casting have been adopted and developed. With Germany, the United States, Japan, Switzerland and other countries 10 26 companies to carry out various projects of technical cooperation. In recent years, the institute has developed 139 new technologies, new processes and new equipment. Since 1977, it has won 9 national excellent engineering design awards, 48 provincial scientific and technological progress awards and 28 technical patents. The Institute is the Coking Science and Technology Information Center of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, editing and publishing publications such as Fuel and Chemical Industry, Foreign Coking Chemistry and Foreign Refractory Materials.
The institute has also continuously expanded its business scope and undertaken the design of urban heating, urban gas transmission and distribution, building materials and large public and civil buildings.
1993, the institute was jointly selected by People's Republic of China (PRC), Ministry of Construction and National Bureau of Statistics as one of the top 100 comprehensive survey and design units in China.
