Airport Layout Basic Functions

Basic Functions of Airport Layout

Airports come in different sizes, and in addition to runways, airports usually have facilities such as towers, aprons, air passenger terminals, and maintenance facilities, as well as other services such as airfield control services, air traffic control, and so on. Below I will share with you the basic functions of airport layout, welcome to read and browse.

Flight Area

The airport runway and is in the easternmost part of the flight area, showing southeast and northwest direction.

The ATC building and tower are on the west side of the apron and are the center of flight control at the airport. The tower is the tallest building in the airport, with a height of about 40 meters. From its top floor, the apron and the 2,400-meter runway are in full view. The tower is also equipped with a VHF station, the aircraft is tens of kilometers from the airport, the tower staff can be through the high-frequency to talk to the pilot to guide the aircraft navigation.

The ATC building is the most modernized part of the airport, with highly sophisticated equipment such as communication systems, automatic aeronautical intelligence systems, meteorological integrated information network systems, and meteorological satellite cloud map reception systems.

The Terminal Area

On the west side of the apron, next to the landmark building? The terminal building, which will be the hub for passenger departures and arrivals, and the place where travelers will have the most contact.

The buildings in the terminal area consist mainly of the terminal building and the viaduct to its west. From a distance, the terminal building looks like a roc about to spread its wings and take off, and its undulating `slope roof is very rhythmic and dynamic.

The first floor of the terminal building is the passenger arrival level, mainly for passengers to pick up luggage and welcome the guests; the second floor is the passenger departure level, arranged with the departure ticketing hall, security check area, departure waiting hall, first-class passenger rest area and supporting commercial facilities.

Functional Areas

The ancillary functional areas mainly include the integrated office building, integrated food building, integrated business building, public security buildings, fire stations, water stations, airport hotels and parking lots, etc. Among them, the parking lot is located in the west of the terminal building. The parking lot is located on the west side of the terminal building, separated only by a road; other buildings in the southwest direction of the terminal building.
