What is a sensor

A sensor is a device, module, or subsystem whose purpose is to detect events or changes in the environment and send the information to other electronic devices, usually a computer processor.

The sensor (English name: transducer/sensor) is a detection device that can sense the measured information and can transform the sensed information, according to a certain law, into electrical signals or other required forms of information output to meet the requirements of information transmission, processing, storage, display, recording and control.

The characteristics of the sensor include: miniaturization, digitalization, intelligence, multifunctionality, systematization and networking. It is the primary link to realize automatic detection and automatic control. The existence and development of sensors allow objects to have senses such as touch, taste and smell, making them slowly come alive.

Usually, according to its basic sensing function, it is divided into ten major categories such as heat-sensitive components, light-sensitive components, gas-sensitive components, force-sensitive components, magnetic components, moisture-sensitive components, sound-sensitive components, radiation-sensitive components, color-sensitive components and taste-sensitive components.
