I think anyone who has used Netware routing should have a feeling that in the same price routing, the routing signal of Netware is always inferior. On the R7000, they use beamforming (smart antenna technology) to enhance the device signal. Officials say this technology is very good. However, in the actual use process, only the equipment that can enhance the signal, originally only 1 cell or no signal, can see the whole cell signal. But there will still be fluctuations. Take my S3 as an example. In the case of three walls, there is only one grid signal, and R7000 can jump between the full grid and two grid signals. The measured network speed is 200K to 500K K, and the effect is obvious, but the packet loss rate is very high, and the Wifi rate is only 2 M. If you want to play online games, give up this idea, but compared with other routes, the signal of R7000 is greatly enhanced, at least you can surf the Internet.
2.USB speed.
Tell me about my configuration. The computer uses a PCI Gigabit network card (not a real Gigabit network card, because it enjoys bus broadband, and generally cannot reach Gigabit rate), plus a USB 3.0 HDD (the reading speed of USB 3.0 interface is measured as 100M/s). The front USB3.0 interface of R7000 is connected to HDD, and the speed of reading and writing large files through the built-in Samba is 50M/s(Netgear officially calls it ReadyShare, which includes USB functions such as Samba, see 3). Because there is no gigabit network card, I don't know whether it is the network card or the speed of the route itself. But this speed is much faster than reading directly on the USB2.0 interface of my computer (the USB reading of my computer is less than 20M). So on my computer, this speed makes me very satisfied.
By the way, Samba can set the password independently, without worrying about things that should not be accessed.
3, USB*** enjoy the function
After downloading tools from Netgear, devices in the LAN can enjoy USB devices (printers, cameras, etc. ). This function is practical for people who need wireless printers but only ordinary printers.
4.VPN function
I have to say that the VPN function of Netware is still too troublesome, and it is necessary to use a dedicated client to connect to the VPN of R7000. I bought NI360, Q3 and other VPN functions in 1969, which support PPTP, IPSec and L2TP, and can be directly connected to these VPNs through the built-in VPN functions of Windows, Android and iPhone. Thousands of R7000 s are more troublesome, which really surprises me. I can only hope that R7000 can add these simpler VPN functions in subsequent updates.
In addition, VPN function only has server function, but not client function. You just cannot connect to a remote VPN server as a client.
5, offline download function
With offline download function, I prefer raspberry pie to raspberry pie (with Aria2c, combined with Baidu network disk, Thunder offline member and QQ offline member), because Aria2c has good browser plug-in support, and can directly add some resources to Aria2c to realize full-speed download (1.5M/s). When I use the offline download function, I don't know why, BT and others have almost no speed, while other offline downloads have the same speed. The shortcoming of raspberry pie is that Samba is too slow (raspberry is only 4M from the computer, NTFS partition), so now I am Samba with storage device connected to R7000, and raspberry pie is mounted on R7000. In this way, you can drag the downloaded resources to the computer for 50 m/s.
So regarding offline download, I prefer that the official firmware can integrate tools like Aria2c. After all, Aria2c is relatively mature at present, and there are many plug-ins under Chrome.
6.QoS function is too monotonous
In the past, the QoS function of Netware was almost useless, and the effect was almost the same whether it was turned on or not. This time, Netware is finally getting better. The upstream and downstream QoS of R7000 is limited separately, and the downstream QoS increases the support for streaming media. After turning on the downlink function of QoS, turn on the full-speed download of Thunder, and then watch domestic video websites such as Youku. The effect is obvious, and you can still watch videos smoothly. If QoS is turned off, the video can hardly be watched.
However, this QoS function cannot limit the speed of each IP individually. I don't know if the network outside the mainland really doesn't need such a speed limit, but almost all of our domestic broadband is small water pipes. It is very important to limit the speed of each IP to some extent for uploading broadband that is almost only 64K to 120K.
By the way, from the first Netware router I used to the current R7000, there is no function to check every IP traffic, so if you think the network card is stuck, you can't find out which device caused it.
7. Built-in DLNA and iTunes server
ITunes function should not have much impact on most domestic users, right? Everyone uses QQ music and Baidu music, so I won't go into it myself. Just tell everyone that the iTunes server can play the music in the HDD normally, some small movies can be watched, and the bigger ones can't be watched.
DLNA doesn't have much influence on me either, but after a simple test, I can do high-definition on demand, because the high-definition film sources have been deleted, and only a few 6G videos have been tried, which can be played normally without pressure.
By the way, if there are too many files in your storage device, scanning will take a little time.
8, with hardware wifi switch
Although experts at home and abroad say that electromagnetic radiation is harmless to human body as long as it is under national standards. I am convinced of this myself, but in the annual sampling, there are always some lines whose wifi electromagnetic radiation exceeds the standard. Although Netgear is not on the list every time (I didn't see it, and the list is almost fixed), it is inevitable that some users still want to turn off wifi when they don't need it. This function is very convenient for users who need it.
9. Power adapter
The power adapter of R7000 is really big, almost as big as the ORICO DCA-4U-WH I bought before, and its weight is similar. The input voltage of 100V~220V should support most countries, and then the output is12v3.5a. As a science student, I don't know how to calculate the power and test the power, but look at this parameter, it should be that the power consumption is not small when it is fully loaded. After all, two USB interfaces supply power, or dual-core 1G CPU. However, the general routing will not consume too much electricity without full load. But I haven't tested it myself, so I don't want to comment.
10, guest network
Nowadays, many routes have the function of multiple SSIDs. Netgear's multiple SSIDs are called guest networks, which, as the name implies, are for temporary use by visitors. But this customer network is not just a multi-SSID, it can be isolated from non-customer networks. Under the guest network, visitors can be prohibited from accessing devices under the ready-to-share or non-guest network. So if there is any information on your HDD that is inconvenient for outsiders to know, or to facilitate Samba access in the local area network, you don't have to worry that visitors can access this resource at will.
My personal suggestion is to add a physical wifi switch on the guest network, which can be turned off with one button when not in use and turned on with one button when in use. I wonder if more SSIDs will increase electromagnetic radiation. If so, I still hope to turn off unnecessary SSIDs at ordinary times and turn them on when necessary.
1 1, LED lighting control
The routing LED can be set to be completely off. Comrades who are afraid of light pollution can rest assured of this.
12, About Routing Management Page
From the first netgear route I used (TP-Link, D-Link, Mercury, Reko, Tengda, etc. ), I feel that the response of the routing management page of Netware is very slow, and it takes half a day for an operation to respond.
R7000 has made a lot of progress in this place. Although it is not as fast as TP-Link, at least you can feel that it is still fast, at least it won't make you impatient.
