After more and more tech vendors entered into electronic skin patch products, YuanTai Technology, which is known for creating e-paper, announced that it has partnered with medical transdermal patch research and manufacturing company Lohmann-TherapieSystemeAG (LTS), and the two companies will ****together to create a prototype of a medical transdermal patch with an e-paper display that will enable the user to confirm if the patch should be replaced.
Commonly used patches
The common medical transdermal patch is used for smoking cessation, contraception, pain relief, etc. It is mainly used to infiltrate through the skin to slowly deliver drugs into the bloodstream to achieve therapeutic effects, but users may sometimes forget to take it off after applying it, which may lead to allergies, heat, and other problems if it is applied for too long.
The medical transdermal patch, which is equipped with an e-paper display by Yuan Tai and LTS, boasts that it can be powered by 50-70% of the voltage of a typical e-paper, so it can be displayed in a low power form on the medical transdermal patch, reminding the user of the precautions to be taken before applying the patch, and displaying a countdown timer during the process of applying it, so that users can easily confirm the duration of the patch's efficacy.
However, this is still a prototype design, and there is still some time to go before it can be used in real-world applications, and whether or not it increases the cost of the medical transdermal patch is probably one of the considerations for market penetration.
