Hunan Food and Drug Institute is a full-time public institution of higher learning approved by the Hunan Provincial People's Government, which is under the supervision of the Provincial Food and Drug Administration and the management of education business by the Provincial Department of Education. College predecessor for the Hunan Provincial Medicine Secondary Specialized School, founded in 1979, has won the "National Pharmaceutical System Advanced Collective", "National Pharmaceutical Education Advanced Collective", "Hunan Provincial Teaching Excellence Unit "Hunan Provincial Advanced Unit of Enrollment and Employment", "Changsha City Civilized Unit" and other honors.
There are three campuses in Changsha, namely, Hampu, Guitang and Dongjing, with a total area of 357 mu and a building area of 151,000 square meters. Among them, the new campus of Hanpu was put into use in 2012, covering an area of 303 acres, with well-equipped teaching and living facilities. The college has 329 staff members, including 203 teachers, 80 with senior titles, 101 with intermediate titles, and 80 dual-teacher quality teachers. In terms of academic structure, there are 285 teachers with bachelor's degree or above, accounting for 90% of the total number of teachers; 58 teachers with master's degree or above, accounting for 29% of the total number of teachers; in terms of title structure, there are 76 teachers with associate degree or above, accounting for 37% of the total number of teachers. Through external attraction and internal training, we have now built up a faculty with young and middle-aged teachers as the main body, reasonable academic, title and professional structure, and comprehensive quality. The college has GMP simulation pharmaceutical workshop, GSP simulation pharmacy and other experimental training room 134, on-campus integration of 25 comprehensive training room, off-campus internship training base 112.
The school has distinctive features, scientific specialty settings and obvious industry advantages. There are 13 majors in pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine, traditional Chinese medicine production and processing, pharmaceutical production technology, pharmaceutical biotechnology, pharmaceutical quality and safety, pharmaceutical equipment application technology, pharmaceutical service and management, pharmaceutical management and management, medical equipment operation and management, food quality and safety, food nutrition and testing, food and drug supervision and management, etc., of which pharmacy and traditional Chinese medicine are the majors supported by the state. At present, there are 3 major professional groups, such as pharmaceutical manufacturing and service, traditional Chinese medicine and health, food safety and nutrition, with more than 6,000 students enrolled. The province's only pharmaceutical industry vocational skills appraisal institute located in our hospital, undertake the province's pharmaceutical industry vocational skills training and appraisal, is the province's pharmaceutical industry high-skilled personnel designated training bases, for the province's pharmaceutical industry in all areas of training and appraisal of a large number of technical personnel.
Adhere to the industry-oriented, the establishment of a variety of forms of schooling. At present, with Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Central South University, Hunan Agricultural University, the Central Radio and Television University and other institutions and excellent industry enterprises to establish a stable mode of joint education and school-enterprise cooperation training, forming a high-vocational specialty-based, undergraduate and high-tech co-existing multi-level schooling pattern.
Adhering to the fundamental principle of establishing morality, serving development and promoting employment, the university focuses on the cultivation of students' practical and application ability. Insisting on serving the needs of students' internship and employment, we have built a deep school-enterprise cooperation model with Hunan Common People's Medicine Chain Co. Ltd. and more than 300 pharmaceutical companies to establish a talent supply and demand relationship, graduates throughout Hunan, Guangdong, Shanghai and other places in the pharmaceutical and health industry, the employment rate of more than 95%.
After more than 30 years of accumulation, the college has built up a system of training highly skilled personnel in pharmacy, medical devices and food specialties. Now we are committed to building our college into a high-quality skilled personnel training base, a key training base for pharmaceutical industry practitioners, and a technical service center for the biomedical industry in Hunan and even in the central region, where there is a greater influence of institutions of the same level.
