ukca certification is the UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) marking requirement for products placed on the market in the UK (England, Scotland and Wales), replacing the EU requirement for CE marking (CE marking will continue to be accepted in Northern Ireland).
The UKCA marking will indicate that a product placed on the market in the UK meets the requirements for UKCA certification. The UKCA marking is specified in the original 'EU Exports' UK Statutory Instrument, which is defined in UK Statutory Instrument No. 696 of 2019 and its revisions, for most products (e.g. automobiles, ships and medical devices are excluded).
The UK Conformity Assessment Mark will be a mandatory mark on a product to indicate its compliance with UK law. The manufacturer or its authorized representative will be responsible for affixing the UKCA mark to the product, which is based on the same principles as the CE marking, but applies to the UK market.
Until January 1, 2023, for most products (except those subject to special rules), the UKCA mark may be affixed to the product's label or accompanying documentation. From January 1, 2023, in most cases, the UKCA mark must be affixed directly to the product. Therefore, companies should start preparing for this. Manufacturers will be required to provide the UK DoC to the Market Surveillance Authority on request.
