How to apply online for organ donation

Volunteers who want to donate organs after their deaths need to voluntarily apply for human organ donation registration through a written application, and their spouses, adult children, parents and other immediate family members all agree and sign.

After the death of a volunteer who has registered as a donor due to an accident or illness, and after the death is confirmed by the hospital where he or she is staying, the family contacts the Red Cross, whose organ-acquisition organization specialists will evaluate the volunteer's body and organ condition, and if the donated organ is suitable for use as a transplant, an organ harvesting operation will be carried out.

People whose organs or tissues in question are functioning well, who are not infected with AIDS or other serious infectious diseases, and who do not have cancer (except primary brain tumors) are generally suitable for organ donation. In order to ensure the prognosis after organ transplantation, in principle, the age requirement for organ donation volunteers is below 65 years old.

Legal basis: "Human Organ Transplant Regulations," Article XI of the medical institutions engaged in human organ transplantation, should be in accordance with the "Regulations for the Administration of Medical Institutions," the provisions of the local provincial, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central People's Government, the competent departments of the People's Government of the health sector to apply for registration of human organ transplantation diagnostic and therapeutic subjects.

Medical institutions engaged in human organ transplantation shall have the following conditions:

(2) there are equipments and facilities needed to meet the needs of human organ transplantation;

(3) there is a human organ transplantation technology clinical application and ethics committee comprising experts in medicine, jurisprudence and ethics, the committee shall be composed of experts from medical, legal and ethical fields, which shall be composed of experts from medical, legal and ethical fields.
