Fangcheng County is a county under the jurisdiction of Nanyang City, Henan Province, located in the southwestern part of Henan Province. It is located in the southwestern part of Henan Province. It is the main gate to the northeast of the Nanyang Basin, with the city of Nanyang to the south and the city of Pingdingshan to the north, and is known as the northern gate of Nanyang.
Fangcheng, anciently known as Yuzhou, has a long history and rich cultural heritage. Beginning in the Xia Dynasty, Yu Gong Yuzhou domain, Spring and Autumn for the Chu land, is one of the origins of the Chinese Silk Road. Fangcheng is one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization. Fangcheng, a place in Chu in the Spring and Autumn, was established in Yangcheng County by the Qin Dynasty and renamed Suyang County by the Han Dynasty.

In 2000, Fangcheng County had jurisdiction over seven towns and nine townships.
In 2005, Fangcheng County's township zoning was adjusted: Dushu Township was abolished and incorporated into Dushu Township; Bowang Township was abolished and incorporated into Bowang Township. Fangcheng County is located in southwestern Henan Province, the northeastern corner of the Nanyang Basin, at the eastern foot of the Founou Mountains, and upstream of the Tangbai River. It is adjacent to Dangang and Uyang County in the east, connected to Sheqi County and Wancheng District in the south, Nanzhao County in the west, and Lushan County and Ye County in the north, making it the northern gate of Nanyang City. County east and west 72 kilometers long, 61 kilometers wide north and south, a total area of 2542 square kilometers. [4]

Climate
Fangcheng is located in the five natural dividing lines of the northern subtropical zone and the southern warm temperate zone, the Yangtze River basin and the Huaihe River basin, the Nanyang Basin and the Huanghuaihai Plain, the FuNiu Mountains and the TongBai Mountain range, and the North China Plateau and the Qinling Trough. Minerals
There are 29 types of minerals found in Fangcheng County, with 10 types of proven reserves. The main minerals are gold, silver, lead, zinc, aluminum, titanium and other metal deposits and fluorite, talc, potassium feldspar, dolomite, silica, marble, granite, limestone, barite and other non-metallic deposits. Among them, Fangcheng is in the main section of the newly discovered world-class mega rutile deposit, which is the largest in China. The rutile belt in the territory is 30 kilometers long, with a total area of about 60 square kilometers. The predicted prospective weathered crust type rutile resources amount to 12.39 million tons, primary ore resources amount to 44.87 million tons, total resources amount to 57.26 million tons, equivalent to the scale of 500 large-scale rutile deposits. There is the Pingdingshan Coal Sea in the north, the Yukhekou Thermal Power Plant in the west, a national key construction project, in the middle of the Central China Power Grid; China's first 1,000-kilovolt (kV) special pit-voltage switching station has been completed and put into operation; the wind turbines of the wind turbine power generation tower over the city in a spectacular way; and the West-East Natural Gas Transmission Project runs through the whole territory.
