What is the difference between Category A and Category B infections?

New coronavirus infection will be adjusted from "Category B, A control" to "Category B, B control" as of January 8, 2023, which is a major adjustment of our new coronavirus epidemic prevention and control policy of a major adjustment.

The National Health and Wellness Commission issued an announcement on the 26th, changing the name of new coronavirus pneumonia to new coronavirus infection. According to the announcement, with the approval of the State Council, starting from January 8, 2023, the preventive and control measures for Category A infectious diseases under the Law of the People's Republic of China on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases will be lifted for the novel coronavirus infection; and the novel coronavirus infection will no longer be included in the management of quarantine infectious diseases under the Law of the People's Republic of China on Sanitary and Quarantine of the Border of the People's Republic of China.

The State Council Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism Comprehensive Group issued on the same day on the implementation of the new coronavirus infections, "Category B B control" of the overall program. The program pointed out that a comprehensive assessment of the virus mutation, the epidemic situation and the basis of prevention and control in our country and other factors, China has the new coronavirus infection from the "B A" adjusted to the "B B" of the basic conditions.

The difference between Class A and Class B infectious diseases is that the diseases are different and managed differently.

1, the disease is different:

Category A infectious diseases refer to cholera and plague, while Category B infectious diseases are divided into 27 types, including infectious atypical pneumonia, viral hepatitis, AIDS, measles, epidemic hemorrhagic fever, whooping cough, tuberculosis, bacterial and amoebic dysentery, etc.

2, the management of different ways:

Category A infectious diseases are mandatory management of virulent infectious diseases, need to be found within two hours of the immediate report, while Category B infectious diseases are required to strictly management of the disease, the requirements of the towns and cities found in six hours after the network direct reporting, rural areas within twelve hours of the network direct reporting.

While Class B infectious diseases are also more contagious diseases, but the death rate is not very high, compared to Class A infectious diseases and will not lead to widespread scale deaths and epidemics. Therefore, category B infectious diseases are relatively minor compared to category A infectious diseases. However, they need to be quarantined and thoroughly disinfected to prevent contagion.

Category A infectious diseases of cholera

Cholera is mainly caused by cholera enterotoxin group 0139, group 01 Vibrio cholerae, because of eating contaminated water, contaminated seafood, contaminated grains, contaminated fruits and vegetables and the resulting lesions. The onset of cholera is rapid and usually results in diarrhea, vomiting and other unpleasant symptoms.

Bubonic plague

Mainly due to infection with Yersinia pestis and caused by infectious diseases, the disease is mainly prevalent in dry otters, rats or other rodents. It is because Yersinia pestis invades through the skin, multiplies and replicates in the body, and causes various symptoms, such as chills, high fever, shortness of breath, etc., and some patients may have a drop in blood pressure, tachycardia, unconsciousness and other symptoms.

Category B infectious diseases of infectious atypical pneumonia

Infectious atypical pneumonia, generally referred to as severe acute respiratory syndrome, severe acute respiratory syndrome is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by the SARS coronavirus. The World Health Organization named it severe acute respiratory syndrome. The disease is a respiratory infectious disease, the main mode of transmission for the proximity of droplet transmission and contact with the patient's respiratory secretions due to the spread of the disease. 2003 disease outbreaks in our country, causing everyone to panic. The clinical manifestations of this disease, fever as the first symptom, body temperature often exceeds 38 ℃, irregular fever or flaccid fever, fever duration of more than 1-2 weeks, accompanied by headache, muscle aches and pains, generalized weakness and diarrhea. Disease 3-7 days later there will be a dry cough with little sputum or blood sputum, this period is prone to secondary infections.
